Our story
Built by people who’ve sat the chair.
TowOps started because Marcus ran a tow shop and couldn’t find software that understood his business. So he built it himself, with people who’d been in the same chair.
“I ran 14 trucks on a spreadsheet for two years. Four different software products couldn’t tell the difference between a hook fee and a line item. So I built one that can.”
— Marcus Halpern, CEO
The Sunday that broke us.
Marcus was running 14 trucks in Memphis. Good shop. Real volume. And he kept losing Sundays to billing disputes — carriers arguing over storage days he couldn’t prove because the paperwork was in a stack on someone’s desk.
He tried the software. Towbook. Spreadsheets. A custom Access database one of his drivers built. None of them understood that a tow job has 12 different billable moments and 3 carriers with different rate schedules.
So he brought in Jordan and Renata — people who’d worked dispatch and knew software — and they built TowOps.
TowOps launched in 2024. We talk to a tow operator every single day. If something feels wrong, email [email protected].
Principles
What we believe.
Operators first
Every feature starts with a real problem from a real tow operator. We talk to a shop owner at least once a day. We build for the road, not for a demo.
It has to work at 2am
When a truck is on the highway, the software has to work. We obsess over uptime, speed, and getting it right — not getting it shipped.
Simple enough for the whole crew
Drivers, dispatchers, and owners all use TowOps. If any of them have to read a manual, we failed.
No surprises
No per-driver fees. No lock-in. No dark patterns. Your data is yours and you can take it with you any time.
Team
Small but mighty.
Marcus Halpern
CEO & Co-founder
Ran a 14-truck shop in Memphis for 11 years. Built TowOps after the third time he lost a Sunday to a billing dispute.
Renata Cruz
Head of Product
10 years as a dispatcher and ops manager. The AI agents are designed to think like Renata on a Friday afternoon.
Jordan Baines
Lead Engineer
Came from Stripe. Used to be a tow truck operator's kid. Knows where the money leaks.
Sofia Mendez
Head of Customer Success
Onboarded 200+ operators at her previous company. If you call support, you'll probably talk to Sofia.
We’re hiring operators who love software.
If you’ve done dispatch, worked a motor club account, or closed out a DOT binder at midnight — and you want to fix it for everyone — we’d like to talk.
